How to Upload an Image to the iDesignIts Design Studio

Want to turn an image of a fashion or jewelry item into something you can work with in the iDesignIts Design Studio?

The Design Studio provides several ways to prepare an uploaded image. In most cases, the website can automatically trace the article for you. If that doesn't work, you have additional options-including an AI background remover and a manual cutting tool.

Here's how to do it.

1. Upload Your Image and Let the Website Trace It. Start by uploading the image of the article you want to use.

Once the image is uploaded, iDesignIts will attempt to trace the article automatically.

The tracing process identifies the main article in the image so that it can be separated from the surrounding background and used in the Design Studio.

If the article is traced successfully, review the result.

If you're happy with it, click Add to Canvas.

Your article will then be added to the canvas, where you can continue editing or designing.

Quick workflow: Upload Image -> Automatic Trace -> Review -> Add to Canvas.

This is the easiest option and should be your first choice.

2. If Automatic Tracing Doesn't Work, Try AI Background Remover. Sometimes an image can be difficult to trace.

For example, the background might be complicated, the article might blend into the background, or the image may not have enough contrast between the subject and its surroundings.

If the automatic tracing doesn't give you a good result, try the AI Background Remover.

The AI Background Remover can help separate the main article from its background.

After the background has been removed, review the result and, if it looks good, add the article to your canvas.

Second option: Upload Image -> AI Background Remover -> Review -> Add to Canvas.

This gives you another way to prepare the image without having to manually cut it out.

3. If Both Options Fail, Add the Original Image. Not every image is easy for automated tools to process.

If both automatic tracing and the AI Background Remover don't produce the result you want, you can still use the original image.

Choose Add Original Image.

This places the complete original image onto the canvas.

You can then manually select the part of the image you actually want to use.

4. Use the Scissors Tool to Cut Out the Article. Once the original image is on the canvas, look at the menu on the left side of the Design Studio.

Select the Scissors tool.

Use the scissors to manually cut around the article you want to keep.

This option gives you direct control over the selection and can be especially useful when automatic tools have difficulty identifying the article.

For example, if you have a photograph containing a necklace against a complicated background, you can manually cut around the necklace and remove the portions you don't need.

Manual workflow: Add Original Image -> Select Scissors -> Cut Around Article -> Keep the Desired Article.

Three Ways to Prepare Your Image. The iDesignIts Design Studio gives you a simple fallback process.

Option 1 - Automatic Trace. Upload the image and let the website trace the article. If successful -> Add to Canvas.

Option 2 - AI Background Remover. If automatic tracing doesn't work well, try the AI Background Remover. If successful -> Add to Canvas.

Option 3 - Manual Scissors Tool. If neither automated method gives you a good result, add the original image and manually cut out the article using the Scissors tool. Add Original Image -> Scissors -> Cut -> Design.

Which Method Should You Use? Start with the simplest option and move to the next one only when necessary.

Automatic Trace is the fastest approach when the article is clearly visible.

AI Background Remover is a useful alternative when the background makes automatic tracing difficult.

Scissors gives you the most direct control when you need to manually decide exactly which part of the image should become your design.

This three-step approach means that even when an image isn't easy for automated processing, you still have a way to bring the article into your canvas.

Start Designing. Once your article has been successfully added to the canvas, you're ready to continue designing.

You can experiment with the design, make adjustments, and eventually use the article with other iDesignIts features such as AR Try-On.

Upload -> Trace -> Remove Background -> Cut Manually -> Add to Canvas -> Design.

The goal is to make it easy to take an image you already have and turn it into something you can creatively work with inside the iDesignIts Design Studio.

Tip: For the best results, start with a clear image where the article is easy to distinguish from its background. And remember to use images you have permission to edit and reuse.
