How to Design Custom Jewelry for AR Try-Ons

Designing jewelry for AR try-ons is different from designing a static catalog render. Every shape, clasp, connector, and highlight has to stay readable when it is placed over a moving body in a live camera feed.
Start with a simplified silhouette. Thin chains and tiny decorative details often disappear in browser-based previews, so the first goal is not realism. The first goal is legibility. Build a clean outline, then layer in texture and material cues only after the base form reads at arm's length.
The next step is placement logic. Necklaces, pendants, and collar pieces need a stable visual center of gravity. If the design is asymmetrical, test it against different shoulder angles and torso movement to make sure the composition still looks intentional during motion.
Color and material testing should also happen early. Highly reflective metallic gradients can look elegant in a static graphic but blow out under webcam compression. A better approach is to test gold, silver, platinum, and gemstone palettes against both warm and cool skin tones in moderate indoor lighting.
Finally, package the design for iteration. Save versions with different scales, simplified pendant geometry, and alternate clasp spacing. The strongest AR-ready jewelry designs are usually the ones that have been edited down until their most distinctive features survive motion, lighting changes, and small-screen previews.
